The "opt-out period" refers to the one-month window after being automatically enrolled, allowing employees to leave the scheme and receive a full refund of their contributions. This period starts from when the member receives their enrolment information from Cushon and runs for 1 month from this date.
Members will receive their enrolment information when you have uploaded your pension file to Cushon.
Tip! Always ensure that you include the ‘Comms Date’ in your pension upload file when enrolling your employees. See What files can I upload to the Cushon Employer Portal
If a member opts out within the opt-out period they will be eligible for a full refund of contributions via payroll. Any contributions paid to Cushon are refunded to the employer.
After the opt-out period members can still leave, but it's called "ceasing membership," and members won't get a refund; their money stays invested.
